Scan a tire barcode
The Scan feature uses your phone camera to read the DOT code printed on a tire's sidewall. From the DOT code we extract the tire size and look it up in the catalog.
How to use
- Sign in on a mobile device.
- Open Scan from the top nav.
- Allow camera access when prompted.
- Point the camera at the DOT code on the tire sidewall (e.g.
DOT M5HK 4AXR 2524). - Hold steady until the camera beeps or the screen flashes.
- The app extracts the size and opens the tire results.
Common issues
Camera permission denied
Open your browser's settings, allow camera for app.tireweblibrary.com, then refresh the Scan page.
Wrong size detected
DOT codes are tricky to read in poor lighting. Try:
- Cleaning the sidewall with a dry cloth
- Moving to a shaded area to reduce glare
- Holding the phone 6-12 inches from the code
- Trying a different tire — sometimes one is more readable than another
If the scanner can't determine the size, you can search by size manually instead.
Privacy
- Camera frames are processed on-device by the scanner SDK. No video is uploaded to Tire Library.
- Only the parsed DOT string is sent to Tire Library to perform the lookup.
